Sure they’re popular, powerful, and black, but do Barack Obama and Curtis 50-Cent Jackson have more than that in common?

This is an interesting video: [blackpublicmedia.org]. I find myself cringing at the first implication, that somehow these two men belong in the same category, but on watching the film a lot of interesting questions are raised. I think my initial aversion to 50 cent is still in tact, but I understand him in a different light. I think ultimately this video points out the social ills of limiting young black men to 50 cent as a role model. Here's hoping in between the extremes of Barack and Curtis we learn to see, or I should say the media and pop culture "learn to see," the true variety that can be black male life in America. It is the best thing for us all.
