“Another Statistic” is the story of a teen couple who face sudden drama and tough choices when the young girl receives some shocking news. As their names are being dragged through the new digital grapevine, their relationship becomes unhinged. With rumors and all kinds of advice echoing around them, can they reconcile with each other enough to make the important decisions they now face? “Another Statistic” is the work of eight 10th graders who were part of Brooklyn Community Arts and Media High School’s BCAMTV video-making elective class last year. What impact can stories told by youth have on illuminating the problems adults usually see from a distance?

Brilliant work. I'm incredibly impressed by the depth of the characters in 10-short minutes. It came from the excellent dialogue- completely believable and engaging.

My favorite scene was where the students dismissed the teacher during their meeting. As a teacher myself, it was an important reminder that we are rarely the most important thing happening in a student's world at any given moment. Thanks for sharing!

WOW! I was the student editor and am spellbound by how good it came out! I was very self conscious, but this work is great! I think that teen pregnancy is a big thing in the urban community and alot of young African Americans are stereotyped for sleeping around and like they said in the film "Going on Maury". I think this film goes to great lengths and speaks to so many people in a different tone of voice for every one too!

adolescents can be impulsive and, unfortunately, are too often undereducated about sex. however, i think the thoughtful treatment of the issue that these students have given us here shows they don't all have "a brain of a pea".

good depiction of a national problem among black teens. Teen pregnancy. So sad..but worse for the baby and the grandparents who will end up raising the baby. Too bad kids have a brain of a pea and don't realize the consequences of their actions until its too late and that everyone who professes to be a friend; is not.

Yo this wuz Tight...

I mean.. uhh...I might not be usin' tha right slang...

Not tight meaning bad, but tight meaning good (said like Run D MC)

But on tha real, the dialogue and the characters were mad believable yo..The viral "She Preggo" was genius and I absolutely love the last shot on the coach.

Yall got game...but as a Media Instructor, I think yall had way too much fun telling your teacher to "Shut Up!"

:D
