Come celebrate 40 years with us and gear up for more game changing in the future

This is one celebration you don't want to miss

Students giving each other a high five

The Venue

You may wonder how BPM is hosting a 40th Anniversary party while physical distancing is still in effect? Well, we found a way! High Fidelity is a new virtual gathering spot that allows people to interact in a virtual setting via spatialized audio technology. To participate, all you need is a registration link, a computer and a pair of headphones. Once in, you'll be able to see and mingle with other party goers just as you would at a traditional BPM party, but from the comfort and safety of your home. We look forward to having you experience this exciting new form of community engagement.

The Menu

What's a house party without good food? For BPM's 40th Anniversary, we've invited celebrity Chef Ricky Moore — owner of Raleigh, North Carolina's Saltbox Seafood Joint and featured chef of PBS' The Hook — to whip up a special BPM 40th Anniversary recipe, which you can prepare in your own kitchen in time for the party. Those registered for the party will recieve the recipe for his Potted Crab with Herbs and Salted Butter by email. Or anyone can click here for the recipe. Anyone who opts to cook, is invited to share photos of their gourmet plates on social media using the #BPM40th hastag.

Bon appetit!

The People

During the party, we'll pay tribute to our 40 Black Media Game Changers, announce upcoming summer events, and encourage you to socialize and dance to the beats of our virtual DJ. Invited guests include past and present BPM grantees, mentors, board members, and staff; our friends and allies from public media stations across the country and from the CPB, ITVS, APT, PBS, NPR and other public media providers; our sister organizations from the NMCA; funders and corporate partners. Festivities will begin at 7 p.m. ET and will only last one hour, so don't be late.

This event is pay-as-you-wish, but donations are encouraged.

We recognize these are challenging times for many in our community. To ensure money is not a barrier to attending this momentous occasion, we've made admission pay-as-you-wish. We encourage $40 donations to commemorate the occasion, but we welcome whatever amount you can afford. All proceeds will benefit BPM programming.
