Unlike most media concerning Muslims, the Ask a Muslim series focuses on a routinely overlooked community of American Muslims: African Americans. Contrary to popular belief, not all Muslims are Arab, from the Middle East, or from Southeast Asia. The African American of the 20th and 21st century is most responsible for establishing Islam in America, however Black authors, scholars, entertainers, and other individuals and groups of note are often ignored when discussions arise about Islam in America.

“Ask A Muslim” is a web series that showcases the current face of Black Islam in America today, using questions from the street asked to Black muslim artists, writers, Imams, and cultural observers.
