AfroPoP Season 14 Trailer
Black Public Media is thrilled to kick off its newest season of AfroPop this spring. Across five episodes, we encounter dynamic people shaping our world in extraordinary ways. "Everything: The Real Thing Story" spotlights four lads from Liverpool, dubbed "the Black Beatles" by the British tabloids, who recount their incredible story from the tough streets of Toxteth to the bright lights of New York; "She Had a Dream" brings us closer to Ghofrane, a young Black Tunisian woman and committed activist who speaks her mind about Tunisia's current political upheaval and decides to go into politics; "Downstream to Kinshasa" highlights the victims of the Six-Day War in the Democratic Republic of Congo who have been fighting for two decades for the recognition of this bloody conflict and are demanding compensation; "Restitution? Africa’s Fight for Its Art" explores the troubling story of the African artwork that fills European museums, and whose return is now being demanded by their countries of origin; and "Revolution from Afar," introduces Sudanese-American poets and musicians who engage in performances and conversation around third culture identity and the revolution in Sudan, from which they have been physically cut off. These are the dynamic films coming to season 14 of AfroPop: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange.
