BPM Watch Parties

This free online event is hosted on the OVEE network and is presented in partnership with Pittsburgh PBS station,



A Virtual Watch Party, featuring Carlos Moore of Joel Zito Araújo's film My Friend Fela. The event also features a screening of Opiyo Okeyo's live-action/animated short, The Birth of Afrobeat. The pre-screening discussion will be led by Emmy and Peabody award-winning director/producer Denise Greene, who also serves as BPM's programming director. During and following the screening, Moore will welcome questions from the online audience.

Escape the challenges of sheltering in place by joining us for our first Virtual Watch Party. Black Public Media and Pittsburg PBS station WQED are pleased to hold this online screening and discussion featuring Carlos Moore. The program will unfold accordingly:

7:05 PM – Conversation with Carlos Moore, official biographer and close friend of iconic Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.

7:25 PM – Screening of My Friend Fela and The Birth of AfroBeat

8:55 PM – Closing Remarks

9:00 PM – Watch Party Ends
