Save the date for our second mixer with Red.Black.Green., the affinity group for Black employees at Huge. Our mixer with RBG during Tribeca Film Festival went so spectacularly well last year that we decided to collaborate again.

BPMplus VR Mixer with MWM (Los Angeles)

August 8, 2019

Featured speakers: Jake Sally, head of development at RYOT, and Dawn Thomas, VR filmmaker and founder of Koi Story Studio. Lisa Osborne, director of emerging media for Black Public Media, will moderate. 

We will screen: Traveling While Black (2019), a VR documentary directed by Roger Ross Williams, co-directed by Ayesha Nadarajah, and created by the Montreal VR studio, Felix & Paul; Ego Tripping VR (2020), a 2-minute clip from the in-development, immersive adaptation of Nikki Giovanni's seminal poem that is being directed and coded by Dawn Thomas; NeuroSpeculative AfroFeminism (2017), an animated, sci-fi short produced by Hyphen-Labs. VR Party with The Mission Entertainment (Los Angeles)

Black Public Media and The Mission Entertainment will host an invite-only Pop-up VR Theater for entertainment industry professionals. 

We will screen: Dinner Party (2018), a live-action drama directed by Angel Manuel Soto; Dispatch (2018), a thriller directed by Edward Robles; Traveling While Black (2019), a VR documentary directed by Roger Ross Williams, co-directed by Ayesha Nadarajah, and created by the Montreal VR studio, Felix & Paul; NeuroSpeculative AfroFeminism (2017), an animated, sci-fi short produced by Hyphen-Labs. Location: The Mission Entertainment office, 9-11 PM, free.

VR Salon with The Mission Entertainment (Los Angeles)

Black Public Media and The Mission Entertainment will host an invite-only salon and dinner for  senior entertainment industry executives.

Featured speakers: Producer Amanda Shelby, of GRX Immersive Labs, and Kayvon Hunt, VP of production & development at JuVee Productions, with moderator Tameka Kee, who is the founder & creative director of The In.flux Lab. 

We will screen: Operation Othello: I Am What I Am (2019), a 12-minute VR drama pilot produced by JuVee Productions; Traveling While Black (2019), a VR documentary directed by Roger Ross Williams, co-directed by Ayesha Nadarajah, and created by the Montreal VR studio, Felix & Paul; NeuroSpeculative AfroFeminism (2017), an animated, sci-fi short produced by Hyphen-Labs. Pop-up VR Theater with Movers & Shakers (New York)

Black Public Media and Movers & Shakers New York will host a Pop-up VR theater in the emerging gallery area near SOHO and Chinatown. We will screen: Traveling While Black (2019), a new VR documentary directed by Roger Ross Williams, co-directed by Ayesha Nadarajah, and created by the Montreal VR studio, Felix & Paul; RONE (2018), a 360 documentary directed by Lester Francois; NeuroSpeculative AfroFeminism (2017), a sci-fi short produced by Hyphen-Labs. Location: 325 Canal Street, 4-7 PM, $5 admission, cash bar.
