The Fund

The Jacquie Jones Memorial Fund (JJMF) was established to provide support for emerging and diverse content producers of non-fiction shorts, feature-length programs, web series, 360-VR, or podcasts. The Fund is inspired by the life and work of Jacquie Jones who dedicated her life to the development and growth of diverse content creators, and the creation of projects that serve the needs of all communities that encourage dialogue, nurture respect and promote understanding.

The $300,000 fund, made possible by CPB, was inspired by the life and work of Jacquie Jones, the Peabody Award-winning director and former executive director of BPM.

Silent Beauty

is an autobiographical exploration of one woman’s family history with child sexual abuse and a culture of silence. In the process of sharing her own trauma with her large family, director Jasmin López learns that generations of children in her family were victims of abuse. The film premiered at BlackStar Film Festival in 2022 to much acclaim and will receive its broadcast premiere on Independent Lens May 15, 2023.

The film premiered at BlackStar Film Festival in 2020 and had its broadcast premiere on POV on May 10, 2021.
