PitchBLACK

About PitchBLACK

PitchBLACK is Black Public Media’s pitch competition. Media makers for traditional and immersive projects are invited to pitch for production funding.  The creative teams pitch before a panel of judges. PitchBLACK is the premier pitch competition for Black, independent documentary filmmakers and creative technologists in the United States attended by funders, distributors, and industry leaders.

To date, PitchBLACK has:

PitchBLACK Film Forum

The PitchBLACK Film Forum features teams of documentary filmmakers pitching their projects to a panel of public media executives and funders. Forum winners can receive up to $150K in production funding.

PitchBLACK Immersive Forum

The PitchBLACK Immersive Forum features creative technologists pitching their projects to an expert panel of emerging media professionals and funders. Forum winners can receive up to $75K in project funding.

PitchBLACK Awards

Winners of the PitchBLACK Forum are announced at the PitchBLACK Awards, where we also present our Trailblazer Award and Nonso Christian Ugbode Emerging Media Fellowship. This year, we’ll also announce the newest recipient of the Jacquie Jones Memorial Fund award.
