Filmmaker Friday: Searching For Augusta Savage

Augusta Savage’s curiously dormant legacy is experiencing a long-overdue revival this month, thanks to a new film by producer Sandy Rattley and director Charlotte Mangin. Searching for Augusta Savage began streaming last week on PBS’ new American Masters Digital Shorts channel. The 22-minute film reminds audiences of the temendous impact this phenomenal 20st century artist, educator and advocate had on her field and on American culture.

Join us Fri., March 1, at 3 p.m., for an Instagram Live Filmmaker Friday conversation, where you’ll hear what inspired the filmmakers and how they got access to the stories and archival materials woven into their film.
