The mission of our BPMplus program is to lower and eliminate barriers to entry for Black filmmakers, educators, and makers who want to learn about extended reality (XR) technology and create XR content. These free, online courses deliver on that mission.

INTRO TO 360 VR CAMERAS

BPM has long sought to bring its popular 360 Cameras seminar to communities beyond New York City. We’re thrilled to now be able to share it with the entire world! Filmmaker Philip Sanchez has adapted the three-hour BPMplus seminar into a 10-episode, online course. He walks viewers through the pros and cons of four, 360 cameras: The Samsung 360, Insta360 One X, GoPro HERO4 Black, and the Kandao Obsidian R. The course features VR footage from each 360 camera, plus a suggested viewing list of 360 videos, so students may see the production quality of the cameras out in the field.

INTRO TO VR EDITING

This online course was developed by VR editor and developer Jonathan Williams, of Virtual Reality Xperience. Over the course of seven episodes, he covers: how to get started with VR editing; codecs, resolutions and proxies; editing 101; how to generate VR effects and transitions; exporting and nadir patching; spatial audio; and After Effects and game engines.
