Black Public Media’s Talent Development Department aims to foster a thriving community by providing filmmakers access to information and resources that strengthen their careers. Our intent is to fortify and deepen the talent pool while also raising our visibility as a recognized leader in cultivating independent media talent.
Formerly known as BPM’s 360 Incubator+, our Bootcamp brings makers together for an intensive, hands-on program that sharpens their craft and prepares their projects for the marketplace. Through workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and peer feedback, participants strengthen their storytelling, production and business skills while building lasting relationships with fellow creatives and industry professionals.
Launched in 2015, PitchBLACK is the premiere pitch competition in the United States for independent documentary filmmakers and creative technologists who tell stories about the Black experience. Selected makers present their projects to public media professionals, industry experts, and funders for a chance to win production funding and gain visibility for their work.
