This Little Light of Mine In Space Webinar

This Little Light of Mine is a timeworn gospel favorite. This month, thanks to producer Topper Carew, a video of children from across the planet singing the song is beaming down to earth from the International Space Station (ISS). On Thursday, February 22 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, BPM will host a virtual conversation between Carew, aerospace engineer Tiera Fletcher, and Ralph Bouquet,  PBS NOVA‘s director of education and outreach.

The three will discuss what inspired Carew to create the project and how he persuaded the SpaceX Falcon 9 team to include his project among the payloads they delivered to the space station last month. They’ll also discuss how audiences and educators can use the project to teach about the history of the “This Little Light of Mine” song in African American faith traditions as well as the history of African Americans in space exploration.
